Dr. Pierre Côté

Dr. Pierre Côté is the Canada Research Chair in Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation. He also holds appointments at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. Research area of specialty: • determinants of disability • epidemiology of musculoskeletal disorders and disability • evidence-based management of chronic disorders and injury • randomized controlled trials, cohort studies and systematic reviews • record linkage • relationship between depression and back and neck pain • traffic injury epidemiology • mental health and wellness in university students Dr. Côté’s research focuses on understanding the etiology of musculoskeletal pain, mental health and disability. His interest resides in explaining the interactions between individual and societal determinants of health. His work aims to identify modifiable risk factors and design interventions that will reduce the burden of chronic pain and disability in the population. He is also interested in the translation of scientific evidence into policy. Dr. Côté is also Director of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology-Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (UOIT-CMCC) Centre for the Study of Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation.
